Online therapy is as effective as face-to-face therapy. It is in fact preferred due to many reasons: Distance, commuting and difficult work or life schedules are not a problem anymore, your comfort and privacy are ensured. Save time, energy and money to prioritize yourself in, what can be, a hectic lifestyle.
As beneficial as therapy can be, it can be a mental and economic strain. That is why I try to make therapy accessible: Although I recommend weekly sessions at first, to get to know you and your context and notice results faster, other more economic options can be sessions every 10 or 15 days max (more than 2 weeks in between sessions is useless to work continuously). With time, as you develop coping skills and resources, we will space sessions for you to test the waters and see how you handle your well being on your own. Of course, if you need to pause the process or change the pace, we redesign the process accordingly.
Gender-based violence is a social phenomenon that, unfortunately, can happen to every woman: 57,3% women over 16 years old residing in Spain have suffered some type of gender-based violence (according to the 2019 Macro Survey of Violence against Women). Every woman is different and experiences it uniquely, but this type of violence implies very specific characteristics and a systematic breakdown of the woman’s self-esteem and independence. As a woman and psychologist expert on gender-based violence, I will help you understand how this violence works, to break free from the emotional prison in which you may find yourself, to heal and empower yourself to restore your life.
All sessions can differ regarding their structure, we will always work through talking and reflecting on the topics you want to work on, as well as practicing experiential and practical exercises, that you will practice on your own or reflect on in between sessions – we’ll always agree on that “homework”. All of these will form your “psychological toolkit” and help you learn how to deal with complex situations. In the beginning and end of the session, we’ll review what we have worked on previously, so you get a sense of where we are in your therapeutic process and what is the focus at the moment.
